Help us, sweet dark lady of the night, holy winged figure of the light—rageful, wise judge, warmest heart, soulful visionary, You who dwell within each of us, You who holds the key to our heart, our mafteyakh ha-lev.
Sometimes a prayer is to ourselves.
Sometimes a prayer is to a part of ourselves that deserves recognition, warmth, honor, respect … call it an archetype, a myth, a Goddess …
but Call Her
Allow us always to remember our inner strengths, to come from a place of understanding and so standing in our own power, to feed and celebrate our ruakh, our neshamah, our lifeforce.
Let us not be swayed from our goals.
Call her.
She will come.
When I first started turning towards myself and looking inside, I had to work through my childhood and conditioning. I had been told that Tarot cards were evil. That the Catholic church was the only way to reach God and salvation. That I must always look towards a priest at the pulpit and in the Bible for answers.
But what of the 69% of the world that are not Christian? Surely there is good there. Hell would be quite full if all of them went there.
I came to the conclusion that ‘control’ was at its root. As it has been in so many instances.
Imagine that. Thinking for yourself. And giving yourself permission.
I gave myself permission to find Divinity in whatsoever way most fit: in the woods, under a full moon, singing in a Circle, in the cry of a newborn, in the wrinkles of the very old, inside my own heart …
Like Lilith, I said ‘No’, I will not lie quietly and submissively.
She of all knowing, dark wisdom … She of the deep abyss, snake’s descent, owl’s knowing … woman of the dark, the light.
Let us recognize and hold this as a time of healing … of creating new roles for ourselves … weaving new threads of oneness and wonder as together we continue to forge new paradigms.
