Gemini Season

Gemini season officially runs from May 20 to June 20 each year.

Gemini season is characterized by themes of integration, new beginnings, and social connection. It is symbolized by the twins, representing the integration of opposites—like the angel and the devil on the shoulders. This period encourages individuals to bring together different aspects of themselves, especially those that may not have been consciously understood or integrated into a cohesive whole.

During Gemini season, there is an emphasis on learning from both the light and shadow sides of our nature, recognizing that everyone is “perfectly imperfect.” It is a time to bow to the shadow as a teacher and to be open to personal growth.

Gemini is also associated with increased social activity and energy. As the days grow longer, it is a time to catch up with friends, celebrate lessons learned, and enjoy the bounty of life. Activities like picnics, festivals, and spending time in nature are encouraged, making the most of the vibrant energy available.

Additionally, Gemini season is a time to be alert for trickery or deception, as it is ruled by Hermes, the trickster archetype. This means being mindful of scams or situations where things may not be as they seem.

Overall, Gemini season is a period for new beginnings, processing experiences, sharing with others, and integrating all parts of oneself while staying alert and open to learning and connection.

Hermes was also linked to the World Serpent in Gnostic traditions, symbolizing the cyclical nature of time and the mysteries of transformation. Neoplatonic philosophers called him the Logos, or Word of God made flesh, and Christian images of Jesus as the Logos were borrowed from Hermes.

Hermes symbolism included the caduceus (a staff with two serpents), winged helmet, and flute, all of which highlight his role as a messenger and a master of transitions and boundaries. The cross, a symbol often associated with crossroads and choices, was also linked to Hermes, emphasizing his trickster aspect as a god of four-way crossroads and ambiguity – From Womans Enclyclopedia of Myths and Secrets by Barbara G.
